Whirlwind Trip to Tennesse

We left at 8pm on the nose and pulled into the hotel parking lot at 4:13 am. All that driving with two small children, and we made it with only 2 stops! The kids did WONDERFULLY on the trip there and on the trip back.
After a full 3 hours sleep for Daddy, and 2 for Mommy ( both kids decided they had slept enough in the car, and were up for almost 2 hours after we got to our room), we enjoyed our complimentary continental breakfast, then headed out to an outlet mall. We would have liked to have gone sightseeing, but it was a bit chilly for the kids to do that, and we wanted to get them back for an attempt at a nap before the wedding.

No naps, but also no problems at the wedding, which was beautiful. I knew it would be though, because my friend could accessorise a garbage bag for a complete and stunning outfit.

The bridesmaids (her 3 sisters) wore brown with a cream sash, cream with a pale coffee colored sash, and pale coffee with a brown sash dresses. The flowers were small nose gays of deep red roses. The setting was a lodge, and she very artfully combined all the wood and rusticness ( I think I just made that word up) with white candles, a little white tulle, and white Christmas lights. I wish I had remembered to take pictures!

We left Sunday am, and after a wrong turn- everything looked different in the day light- and seeing all the thrift stores we could have stopped at, we headed home. The pictures of the mountains don't do them justice, but as long as we were in the Smokies, I was going to get a few pictures, even if they were out the front window.

I would have liked to get some pictures of the Appalachian Mountains, but they were more along side of us as we drove through, and I don't think the pictures would have turned out so well.
And now we are home, and I am somewhat caught up on sleep, but not fully on the laundry.

Glad you had a nice trip! This was Elisha's wedding, right?

Aren't the Smokey Mountains beautiful. However, they can get a little depressing if you stay for too long. Glad your kids behaved on the way, it makes things so much more pleasant :)

Nice to see the scenery and hear your news -- the wedding sounds lovely, and your words really paint a picture of how things looked. Thank goodness you had an easy time travelling with kids -- a friend of mine recently spent 14 hours on a plane with her 2-year-old, and said she was a nervous wreck most of the holiday as she anticipated the return trip home. Which was, unfortunately, just as bad.

Sarah- Yep it was. Can I just tell you what a mush-pot she is? Worse than you and M.! (giggle, wink)

New Mom- Yes, and don't you wish the comments had spell check?

Morning- I was hoping my descriptions came across clearly!
I also understand your friends worries. While we drove down, I was still a bit concerned about the potential for little screaming kids!
