Dat?
I finally learned the secret to getting this little monkey on camera: Put it on the action setting.

Working hard. And bugging his sister, who is diligently tracing her name, the big and small of the letters we've learned so far, and the numbers we've done.
This is supposed to be at the end-hmmm. Anyway, waiting for Daddy to get home. Momma forgot to turn the flash back on.

This I am particularly proud of. I got Eight Hands Round: A Quilt Alphabet Book out from the library. It may be just a bit beyond Honey, but she sat through the whole thing, and showed lots of interest. It covered the history behind 26 quilt block patterns, and was (duh) in alphabetical order. During lunch, I was racking my brain for some type of craft/art project to do, since the leaf one I was hoping to get at was not going to happen. Bingo! Make our own quilt block out of scrapbook paper! I did the cutting since Honey's not to adept with scissors yet, and we both placed them after they were liberally slathered in glue. I wanted her to know that these had an order in which they went, otherwise I would've just let her at it. She thought it was great.
Next week I HOPE will be a full week of school, somewhere between house cleaning and applesaucing...

I really like your paper quilting square idea; I wouldn't have thought of that but i works perfectly. I hope that you have a great day!
School?!?! Ack, where has my little Honey gone? ;-)
The project sounds really cute. I'm glad she enjoyed it too.
See you tomorrow!!
Mmm...applesaucing...I kind of wish I could make homemade applesauce. I haven't had that in almost 20 years!
Mrs. Bonnie, you know I'm one of your biggest fans, right? So does that give me the privilege of asking a question? Do you solemnly promise to not be offended at my question? :)
OK, I couldn't really hear your answer...but here goes anyway. :)
Why are you doing school with Honey?
I'm guessing that Honey loves it, and that's why you do it. But the real reason I bring it up is to make sure that you don't feel any pressure to devote a lot of time or brain power to organized "school" at this point in her/your life.
I remember when I was quite pregnant with Tobin and was obsessing a little bit over Josiah's education (or lack thereof)...he was 5 years old at the time. An older, much more experienced homeschooling mom encouraged me to "forget" homeschooling for a while and to just focus on having fun together, reading lots of books, living life at a more relaxed pace without self-imposed pressure. I was so grateful for her words.
So...I just wanted to let you know that you're doing an incredible job with your children and they are learning so much from their everyday activities with you. Obviously Honey seems quite advanced for her age; from what I know of her, she reminds me of the daughter of another friend of mine who is a very early reader and thoroughly enjoys her "schoolwork," even begging for more. Yay for kids like that!
But do you promise to give YOURSELF grace in this whole area of schooling, especially as your new little one comes on the scene?
OK, I'll stop now. And I do hope that you're not offended. Please let me know if this comes across wrong, and I'll try to explain my heart better!
