Emilie Barnes on Work

"Work doesn't have to be drudgery! It used to be that work was perceived as one of God's blessings. People would do their work "as unto the Lord." Somehow, we seem to have lost that tremendous concept. Many of us today look at work as a penalty, or a burden. We struggle to drag ourselves out of bed in the morning to go to that boring job or begin the drudgery of housework. We live for the weekend instead of appreciating the gift of our daily tasks. I think we'd be a lot happier-and much better workers- if we recaptured the idea that our work, our wealth, and our possessions are all gifts from God. When we think about how our every action, every deed, every word is a reflection of our relationship with the Lord, it is so important that we put our faith and joy in the work we do, whether that is in the office or at home. We are an example to our children, and everyone we make contact with.
As Christians we should be the best workers on our street or in our company. Start your day with a sense of this privileged responsibility, and you'll find that those simple mundane tasks will become opportunities to honor God. It's pretty simple, don't you think?"

Ouch. Maybe I can have this tattooed on my arm so I'll remember.

I just love Emilie. She says some pretty convicting things sometimes but I always feel like she says it in such a encouraging manner.

Have a blessed day!

Good to be reminded. But every now and then we're allowed to slip up, then get down to it again.
