Chocolate Peppermint Kiss Cookies

(I'm to lazy to find the password for my poorly neglected recipe blog right now, so I thought I'd just post the cookie recipe here)

1 1/4 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. packed brown sugar
6 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 Tbsp. water
1 6-oz. pkg. (1 cup) semi sweet chocolate chips
1 egg
1 bag Hershey's Candy cane Kisses OR those large pastel mints you some times find at wedding showers
*Stir together flour and baking soda in a bowl. Set aside. In a medium sauce pan heat and stir together brown sugar, butter and water over low heat till butter is melted. Add chocolate chips. Heat and stir till chips are melted. Pour into a large mixing bowl and let stand 10-15 minutes or until cool.
*Beat egg into chocolate mixture. Stir in the flour/baking soda until well mixed. (dough will be soft) cover and chill for 1-2 hours or till easy to handle.
*Shape into 1 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 8 minutes. Remove and immediately top with a Kiss. Remove from pan and cool on a rack until kisses are firm.
* For using the pastel mints, place cookies back in oven (with the mints) for 2 minutes. Remove and swirl mints with a knife to "frost" the cookies. Cool until mints are firm.
The heat of the cookies was enough to melt the Kiss, and 8 minutes baking time seemed to be plenty.
Yeild: about 4 dozen

Umm I'm going to make these this afternoon if I can find the candycane kisses. If not, maybe I'll substitute my andes mints instead. My mom won't know (they are supposed to be my stocking stuffer... hee hee!)

Thank you for the recipe! And the play list!!! I've been leaving it up when I get tired of our own CD's.

Will try to call you today... was wondering if you have a snippet of time next week where I can maybe stop by for a quick chat? :) I have a fussy baby today. Hopefully I can get her to SLEEP, so I can call... :)
