Q&A Part 3: Skills (or lack thereof)

Moving along here with the Q&A's we have come to: Stuff I know how to do; Do you know how to do; Who taught you how to do; and What do you want to learn how to do, summed up by me as "Skills"

From Rebecca:
Do you smock?

Sadly no. But. I have a new (old) sewing machine that has a ruffler foot, soooo, I may be learning sometime potentially soon.

What is something you have always wanted to (but haven't yet) learned how to do?

Ahem. Did you want the long or short list? Here goes:
~ Smoke meat in a hollow log ala Little House. That was my favorite part of the book when I was a kid
~ Crochet and or knit- you cannot beat a homemade wash cloth.
~ Spin wool and weave
~ Make "paper" (actually, I think I did that once for homeschooling class when I was a kid, but I'm not counting it)
~Smock
~ Learn to forage
~ Be proficient with power tools
~ Basket making
~ rug making
~Tat ( I even have some of the tools!)
~ Make lye soap
~ Tap trees and make maple syrup
~ To combine herbs for "tea" the fact that I rarely drink tea aside...
~ Surf, which is kind of funny, because I am afraid of heights and deep water
I'll leave off there, for fear of putting anyone to sleep

From Tracy:
How long have you been canning?

Hmm since I was about 16 on my own, but I helped my mom with it when I could before that.
She taught me basic hot water bath canning, and I taught myself the harder stuff. My FIL taught me how to pressure can meat, and I taught myself the rest from there.

Who taught you to sew?
I got my first sewing basket when I was 5 or 6, and my mom and grandma (my moms mom) taught me.
That's it for now, dirty diaper to change and a 4 year old to put back in bed!

This is fun! Yo impress me with your skills for one so young yet, Bonnie, but it's no wonder as you started everything at such a young age. That's what I hope for my children, too.
