April in Review

I can't believe its MAY already! It doesn't look like May, its rainy and cold. Blah. O well, if April Showers bring May Flowers, maybe May showers will bring June vegetables?
A re-cap of the last month in a TON of boring pictures:

40 Lbs. of boneless, skinless chicken thighs, canned. This is THE way to go if you're canning chicken! Its got great texture and taste!

The first bouquet

Birthday money saved up and bikes bought. They are bike riding crazy!

The helmets are just for show. Mostly, they live dangerously like daddy and I did when we were little.

This is how your feet don't get run over

For our 7th anniversary, we headed down to the local Amish community

A trip to the cheese store, and the discovering every single place with a picnic table was still closed for the season, so we pic- nic-ed in the van

And enjoyed the scenery

Muffin fell asleep on the way home

We celebrated our anniversary with a grand and glorious feast: homemade artisan bread with dipping oil. My children are dipping oil fiends. Steaks on the grill, twice baked potatoes, salad, crab cakes, crab cake stuffed mushrooms, and brownies with cream cheese frosting. And peach wine, which I put in tumblers as we have no wine glasses. I should have warned B. that he picked up the wrong glass for a big drink. But I was a split second to late, and got to have a long hard laugh.

Resurrection Sunday (Oops didn't load the kids pic!), we went to my parents. I took Brownie Torte. Recipe forthcoming eventually.

Earlier that week, the small-fry and I planted seeds, in pots from my handy-dandy paper-pot maker. A worthwhile investment!

And I made cheater doughnuts 2 Saturdays in a row

We like the powdered sugar ones best

I found a nest in the bushes. All the babies are hatched out now

And we've been visited by these ducks. Not sure if they are the neighbors, or got dumped

This guy was here Saturday morning, right off the porch!

He brought his buddy along too. The didn't like having their pictures taken.

I thought there were more pictures, but I guess they didn't get loaded. I've been sewing, tending seedlings, making meals, loving my new dishwasher, and working like mad to finish up school with the monkeys. I think our last day is next week- Woo-Hoo!
I'm hoping to have a friend and her 3 littles over to celebrate with an ice cream party. Anyone got a waffle cone recipe to share?

Howdy, I'm skipping through on a break from cleaning :) LOVE all your pictures! Yay for being almost done with schooling!!!! An ice cream party sounds just about right! Wish I had a good waffle cone recipe, too...
Land-sakes! That's a lot of chicken! Way to go!

This is Bonnie's sister. The "Cheater doughnuts" are refrigerator biscuits that yo poke a hole in and deep fry in oil till a nice brown color. Then you dip them in cinnamon sugar (my favorite) or powdered sugar. Mom has made these for a treat for us for as long as I can remember!:-) --

I love donuts. Haven't tried to make them in forever. Maybe soon...
