Pinterest Did Not Throw-Up

And the shower turned out great, at least I think it did. My pictures however, are somewhat blurry. I hate when they look clear on the screen, only to load them on to the computer and discover they're all blurry.

I used the extra crib rail from Muffins toddler bed, part of an antique quilt, and a old Ball canning jar here.

I think we set 9 tables with 7 chairs each, and they were just about all filled.

The quilt blocks my MIL gave me, and they worked out well. We just picked the ones we wanted and laid them out.

My collection of green canning jars came in handy, as did my vintage "clamp lid" style ones.
(I know they have another name, but it's escaping me)
My sister picked the wild flowers, and I contributed the some black-eyed Susan's, hostas and herbs.

It looked a little sparse, but once people were seated and had plates on the tables, I was glad we went simple.

Another vintage quilt from my MIL on the gift table, my rocking chair from home, and a crate for flowers and Bethany to set a cup on.

There were quite a few little girls there, so we had baby coloring pages, candy necklaces, and a guessing game for them. We only played one "shower game" : I Smell A Smelly Diaper.
6 different baby foods in 6 diapers and you had to sniff and guess what they were. I'm not a big shower game fan, but this one was kinda fun. My sister put together little gift basket prizes on the left of the table.
This quilt was my grandmas when she was young.

I thought I had a better picture of the food table, but I guess not. Missed the drink table too.

The meal was a huge hit. When people are asking if they can take a plate of leftovers (which there was a ton of. And still is. I tend to over plan.), you know it's good.
We had mint iced tea, ice water,  pineapple lemonade punch, and coffee to drink.
May I highly recommend having a big plate of peanut butter and jelly for children at your next shower or pot -luck? It saves wasted food, let me tell you. We threaded grapes onto skewers, and stuck chocolate chips on for eyes to make "caterpillars", they were really cute.

Yet another vintage quilt from my MIL.
The dessert plates were bigger than the lunch plates. Tells you how we think : )

Desserts were: Blueberry Peach Pie, strawberry and a blueberry refrigerator pie, individual fruit pizza's, Blackberry Jam Cake, Fresh Strawberry Yogurt Cake, Chocolate Mint Parfait Bars, and (not pictured) Shortbread Truffles
And those are all the pictures I got. My brain started shutting down about the time the guests arrived. I'm recovered (mostly), Bethany is recovered (I think), and it was fun. And I still haven't made her gift

Wow! Love it all! Did you print the "welcome" on the triangles? What was the material, and HOW did you do it? My mouth is watering over the sound of the food!!! YUM! Good job, girl! I'm also curious on the jello cake (Jud LOVES jello). Did you just poke holes in a cake and pour in jello and let set??? Do tell...

nope- no puke anywhere.

So---when can you do MY baby shower????

Of course--- we would actually have to MEET first.

And then---I would actually have to be pregnant!

But- really, is THAT necessary?!?

I love all the details you put into the day. I love to pie on the crate and the quilts everywhere and the quilt blocks and the mason jars.

I have to ask-did you totally regret using quilts for tablecloths? I have seen pictures of quilts as table cloths and lusted over them but always think in the back of my mind, I would be so panicky of food dropping and staining the quilt I don't think I could do it. Apparently, I am only a pessimist when it comes to quilts. :-)

It was a lovely shower! The PB&J sandwiches were genius, as I mentioned. The blackberry jam cake was so yummy...would have gone back for seconds but was too full from the delicious lunch!

'Lish- I did them on brown kraft paper. I printed of the welcome, laid it over each triangle and traced around each letter *really* hard with a pencil. Then I traced each outline on the craft paper with a pencil, and filled it in with paint. There was probably an easier way of going about this, but then you know me- since when do I do easy?!?
And the cake isn't a jello cake, it has actual jam in it. Poke around on my Pinterest boards and you should find it. Jud should like that one too, seeing as he has a passion for jam : )

Rebecca- nope being pregnant would not be a prerequisite for meeting! And really the fact that we only live not quite 6 hours apart ( I googled directions and time once : ) ) shouldn't be *too* much of a hinderance...
As for the quilts, if I was at home, yes, I would think twice. I know my children, and myself for that matter. As it was, only a tiny bit of pie was spilled on one of the quilts, I washed as I normally, hung it on the line, and can't find the spot!

I don't know an easier way. And I like how yours turned out. I'll have to investigate more.

I saw the recipe on pinterest! Oh.my.word. Yeah, Jud would love it. Now I just need an excuse to make it!

*I* think it's high time you and Rebecca meet!!! Pick a major city in the middle, map out all the fabric and craft stores, have hubby watch kiddos for the day, and go!!! BUT, there is the SMALL detail of being way preggo...
