I was trying to come up with a fun, no-cost activity for Honey and stumbled across this recipe for playdough. She loved it, and played for over 2 hours.
Here's the recipe:1 c. white flour
1/2 c. salt
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil ( I used canola)
1 tsp. alum
food coloring
1/2 c. water
Mix first four ingredients. Add food coloring to water ( be rather generous, I used at least 12 drops). Gradually add small amounts of water until the mixture attains the consistency of bread dough. You may not use the entire 1/2 cup of water. Store in an airtight container. This (should) last a long time.
If you can't find alum at the grocery store, look in the drug store.
This is a bit grainy at first, but the more you squeeze it, the softer it gets. I worked it awhile before giving it to Honey.
This also makes quite a big lump, I only gave her about a quarter to play with.
Oh, and I tried making purple. Didn't work so great.

Looks like Honey had a blast! I think you need to make us some playdough for our Cranium game. We had to throw away the stuff that came with it (hard as a rock), so we just skip all the sculpture questions now.
Dokey Dokey ( I'll let you guess who says that).
Sweet little pumpkin -- I love the pinny! Do you keep your playdoh in the fridge? I often do, then microwave on defrost for half a minute before giving to Boo. It lasts much longer.
What a cutie in her little gingham apron! I bet you just love to kiss her sweet little cheeks!
