This Weeks Menu

Somehow I got out of the habit of posting the coming weeks menu, so now I'll try to get back into it. Ahem:
Thursday: Chicken Marsala*, rice of some kind, and green beans, (we haven't had those for a bit). And maybe some fruit.
Friday: Sunday Pork Roast*, scalloped potatoes, salad.
Saturday: Beef (venison)Bourguignonne over noodles, broccoli, and apple sauce.
Sunday: Leftovers
Monday: Turkey Taco Bake*, Mexican rice, salad.
Tuesday: Chicken Pot Pie, salad, fruit.
Wednesday: Smothered steak* over rice, carrots, and maybe some rolls.
Hmm. I'm having trouble with side items. This whole menu looks boring, I feel like I serve the same sides over and over and over. Time to dig out the cook books again.

A recipe I love for a sidedish is ranch rice. It is soo good it almost steals the show. The recipe originally was to be done one way but I find the way I am going to tell you is more fool proof and better. Cook one cup of long grain normal rice with two cups of water. Once that is almost finished, melt in a saucepan, 3 Tablespoons of margarine, and one pouch of dry Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning, pour over the rice at the last minute and stir through evenly. Top with toasted almonds and it is delicious!! It is even good fried the next day. Hope this recipe helps!

You'r right -- menu planning is invaluable, both to save time and money. I just can't stand infront of my cupboard at 6pm and work out what to have -- it's the route to madness! I also like to try a new recipe at least once a week -- it's fun! Mum and I share the cooking, luckily -- she lives next door so twice a week I pop a plated meal over for her and dad, and twice a week she returns the favour. Bliss!

Davene- Me too! The Chicken Marsala was very good.

Mrs.H.- I've got the dressing mix on my grocery list- that sounds GREAT! THankyou!

Morning- You are so right, and how nice to share cooking! I like cooking, but both kids seem to save all their energy or fussing til I start a meal, which makes things challenging sometimes!
