When I make a gift, I like it to be (what I consider) exactly right for them. Many times I have started a gift, then set it aside because it wasn't quite what I envisioned for a certain person, only to pick it up later and find that it is perfect for someone else.
This one I managed to pull together the day before the shower. The only part that I bought was the flannel for the blanket, since that was the only color I knew for sure that I wanted to make a blanket from. The rest evolved from there.
I LOVE ,LOVE, LOVE my free style flowers and leaves. The edges are unfinished so they will ravel (un-ravel?), and when it came to binding the blanket, I serendipitously had- gasp- brown ribbon with white polka dots just exactly wide enough, and perfectly coordinating!
I tucked in some baby wash, diaper cream, and a baby toy. I also added a jar of jam for her husband. As part of their wedding gift, I gave them a bunch of my homemade jam, and Jud declared it his favorite wedding gift because he adores jam and toast. I told her the new dad needed a gift too.
A lovely shower, but then any shower with a variety of cheesecake bites instead of an actual cake is a good shower in my book! And as always Elisha was a beautiful, glowing guest of honor.

I just love this little set. I am especially taken with the little bib; I just love the color combination and that little bird!!! I'm sure your friend will treasure this gift.
Thanks Nanci!
Oh, they are so cute! Well done!
What pretty colour -- the ribbon is perfect. I guess your friend doesn't know if it's a boy or a girl?

Oh my goodness, Serena, I just figured out who you are from the S&S board. I feel silly not recognizing you, still I'm glad you stopped!
