You just might wanna go grab a cup of something hot to drink,I think this may be my longest post ever! Mostly pictures, but
that's what I like best. I love seeing little glimpses of other's houses, lives, how they do things. I suppose that it what I like about blog land so much: I can be nosy. Anyway, here is some of what has been keeping me busy, and away from blogging. Simple little pleasurable things that make up my days and life.

We have had this old drawer in the basement for the longest time. I
LOVE it, but never knew quite where to put it. Inspiration struck not long ago, so up it went, and looked rather plain.
Hmm. What to do what to do? Aha. I went out and fought with some wild grape vine, twisted it into a wreath, then gathered a few herbs that were still green- lemon balm and thyme, and tucked in a few sprigs of
rose hips. They are all dried at the moment, but I love how it looks.

(Please, ignore the fact that I was to lazy to edit this picture, so there is an ugly extension cord showing. Yes, it does look that way when its plugged in, but I pretend it's not really there.)
I went very simple in my decorating this Christmas, pulling out only my very favorite items, and tucking in whatever natural things I could. While I love sparkle and shine, I have to say, this is my best year for Christmas fluffing.

Normally, I put all my little houses I made
here.
But little heads are right at the height for running into the doors of the
secretary if I leave them open. So, I put a few behind the closed
doors of the
secretary, and the rest in the dining area.

If you look closely, we have just the faintest dusting of snow. Its kind of strange to see the pond freezing over when there is no snow on the ground.

My MIL passed this Nativity along. I love it, and having searched long and hard for "A Good One", this filled the bill perfectly.

You can't see them, but I tucked rose hips in the (
faux) garland. Hopefully a fire will be burning brightly in the stove soon. (Note to Self: REMOVE CLOCK BEFORE STARTING FIRE!)

Pretend this picture is clear and straight....

When I left the doors of this open, I would hang a wreath on each one. Since they are staying closed now, I hung just one wreath, which, Duh, you can see for yourself. (where
is my coffee? I think I need some more)

I have been baking up a storm 34 dozen so far, 6 varieties. At least 3 more kinds to go.

I found a new sugar cookie recipe this year, and I really like it. The cookies are much softer, and my big ones actually stayed together. Normally, they break when I take them off the pan.

B.'s mom came over last evening, and she and I helped the children decorate cookies.
Honey took it quite seriously, I wish had thought to take pictures of some of her creations.

Biscuit never takes anything very
seriously.

Muffin just chased falling sprinkles.
Whew, like I said, long post, and now, I need to get dressed, get babies up, and start the day.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Great job on your decorating (awesome, awesome drawer!!!) AND your baking (you have been busy my dear)! I love the little houses you made :) I have a Christmas village, but it's all from Walmart...LOL. Have a GREAT day!!!! :)
Yay for Christmas! Your home looks cozy - and the cookies, oh my! What kind are those pictured? I'm looking for some new cookie recipes :) You are WAY ahead of me in the baking area, I have yet to start :( Today is the day to sit down and make a list. However, It's a crummy day for going to the store (it's pouring rain), so maybe tomorrow...
this was like a Christmas gift to me! I *LOVE* long picture posts THAT much!
1) I am insanely jealous of your hoosier cabinet. I have always wanted one. I would be quite content and happy with all sorts of peeling lead paint all over it and dents and bangs---let alone a GORGEOUS one like yours. I am trying very hard not to turn green.
2) All your other furniture is beautiful. sheesh. Looking around all my stuff was brought in from the curb. :-(
3) 34 dozen cookies?! Holy smokes. That is insane. I usually go the "candy" route but have not yet even started. Those chocolate ones look so festive-love the red and white kiss.
4)LOVE that shelf. I *almost* bought one at a rummage sale last year but all the little cubbies were beginning to fall apart and it was in some seriously tough shape. Opted not to. The herb/greens wreath is stunning. LOVELY. LOVE, also, that you used what you had.
Thanks for the tour~your home is lovely. Makes me very concerned about ever sharing photos of the inside of my house. In all it's roadkill, garbage heap glory.
Your decorations are LOVELY, Bonnie! WOW! That's um....a lot of cookies! I have like 4 dozen in my freezer. I still have some gingerbread, peanut butter blossoms, and fudge to make. Do you give cookies as gifts? :)
Blessings,
Bonnie!
Amy
Erica- Thanks!
Elisha- I'll e-mail you the recipe tomorrow(Friday)
Rebecca- POPPYCOCK! Your house/furniture is gorgeous, and you can't see all the bangs and scratches on mine in these pictures. I am SO not against "road-kill" furniture. I keep my eyes open for it all the time. (I'm kicking myself for not picking up some window frames a few weeks ago, and gulp- half a hoosier last year. Yes, a hoosier. I got back to it RIGHt as the garbage men threw it in the back of their truck. :0( )
So, you certainly had better post pictures of your house, because I like it, and get ideas.
Amy- Yes I am insane, and up to 40 dozen. ;0D
I do give a lot away, and bring them to the 3 different family get togethers we attend.
Fudge? Yum, eat some for me!
Oh, stop being such an overachiever! ;) Once again you have made me tired. And here I was debating whether to make two or three kinds of cookies this year. LOL
Wow, I am impressed! We have the tree decorated, the native out plus a few ornaments but that is the extent! I am so behind the times this year! I am not even done w/ presents and they need to be done by Monday or they won't get to their destinations before Christmas...
Wow, that Hoosier is impressive! Our eye doctor has one in her office and I try so hard not to covet it!! The other cabinet is gorgeous as well! Your home looks so cozy and comfy! It reminds me of home! I grew up in a tiny house but Mom always decorated the whole house for Christmas... I really miss her this year! She lives in Louisiana but I don't get to see her very often.
40 dozen cookies??? I am truly impressed!! We've not even started... Maybe being out of town and then putting on the market has slowed things down. LOL!
Could I also get the recipe for the cookie shown? I'm desperate for a good and pretty cookie!
Have a Merry Christmas!
