Birthdays and Such

Much celebrating being done here at Crabapple House, what with Honey and Biscuits birthdays being only a day apart (well, 2 years and one day if you wanna get technical). And then Valentines Day on Monday. B brought me these for V. Day candy:
N-n-n-no. I-I-I-I-I'm n-not j-j-j-j-j-jittery at-t-t-t all.
( actually, I do tend to stutter when nervous or stressed. If you wondered)

Of course Birthdays mean parties, 'cuz I like to have them, and Biscuit wanted car cupcakes, Honey wanted Strawberry Shortcake cupcakes. My humble, and rather pitiful offerings. At least they tasted good. And didn't get to smashed when the shelf over the dryer fell on top of them.

We feasted on sloppy-joes, potato salad, broccoli salad, jello salad and potato chips and pretzels. A picnic in February if you will.

Now he is 4

And she is 6

It finally warmed up enough to go out and play again. They came in rosy cheeked and soaked.

Special breakfasts are a must on the actual birthday. By candle-light please. Gingerbread scones.

Leftover ice cream with a candle stood in for cake.
Burgers, baked beans, applesauce and broccoli and dip was the requested dinner.

Biscuit wanted the same

But with Dutch pancakes for breakfast.

And pizza for supper. A pizza party which means we watch the Walton's in the family room.

I got spoiled this year for Valentines Day, aren't my flowers lovely?

White roses, lavender wax-flowers and Ladies Mantle. I think I must grow some Ladies Mantle this year. We're going out to dinner tomorrow too. To a local-ish place with smackin' good ribs and divine house pasta (shrimp, chicken and pancetta!).

I never know what to give B., so I make a huge and grand meal. And this year is getting the kings treatment, because I just realized 2 of his favorite meals are tacked on either side of it: Southern fried baked (venison) steak, and French Onion soup. This years V. Day meal is going to be homemade mushroom and shrimp ravioli. There is a love hate relationship with mushrooms in this house: he loves them, I hate them. But I'll gladly cook them for him.
Well, its nearly 3 pm. The house is a disaster, today was library day and books are scattered hither and yon, and since it is also grocery shopping day, school is saved for the afternoon, which is now half over, so I must away.
Adieu.

...I love this post, Bonnie! I could just smell all that delightful food you cook! I've decided that you are a FABULOUS cook! :-) I just know it! :) Those cupcakes are ADORABLE! If I get a request for cars, I'll know where to come! :) That last part of your post kinda sounds like things 'round here as well albeit I did shopping on Tuesday (whew!)!

Hope you have a lovely rest of your Thursday!
Blessings!

Happy birthday to your big kiddos! Oh my goodness, I'm not even going to let my boys see this post because they would want those car cupcakes. ;-) You are so talented!
