October

How on earth did I miss the entire month of October (save today) blogging? I had the pictures, I had the time (but most likely squandered it) I had the posts thought out. And now, with a few minutes while the coffee finishes, and I then go put in 15 minutes of basement cleaning (slow and steady wins the race), I have to cram a whole month into one post.
Here Goes:
The garden was finished by the second week of October, so one warm and sunny day, the kidlets and I went and cleaned it out.

I was hoping for more, but VERY excited for the 2 pumpkins we grew! I want to roast them probably this week, and freeze the puree.

LOTS of basil, I could've picked more, but this was such a wet, hot, buggy summer that I would've drowned, melted or been eaten alive trying to get out to the garden. Its been pesto'd and is residing happily in the freezer, where it dreams of becoming the crowning glory of pesto chicken pizza.

I have been trying to come up with "man-jobs" for Biscuit. I do want him to know how to do/help with house work, but I also feel strongly that he needs to learn more boyish tasks. He'll do anything I ask, and I am trying to look past the fact that he will need to gallop a few laps around the house on his "horse", before he settles down to use it as a broom.

Biscuit planted these and while not the best picture, it still made me smile. I hung the flower heads up in the tree outside the back window, and a few days ago, the birds found them and have been feasting ever since!

Honey is down another tooth. I love that gaping smile!

B. found a salamander while weeding and mulching the front flower beds. This is not the picture I meant to post.

Though Muffins birthday isn't until November, we decided to split the difference between her and Beans birthdays and have an October bonfire birthday. The weather was P.E.R.F.E.C.T. And considering we passed our states old rain record about a month ago, that was a blessing. We ate (and ate and ate)
And fished

Honey's

Muffins first! A small large mouth bass.

And Biscuit got to use his birthday fishing rod for the first time, but unfortunately, caught nothing.

We had cupcakes

and presents

And candles.

B. took a week off and we did lots of family visiting, and went down to a favorite store (I'll spare you yet ANOTHER picture of "our" tree.) I got 2 new bread pans to replace my yucky old ones. Spatter-ware to boot! They bake GREAT bread.

This just made me laugh.

Tomatoes which were *supposed* to ripen and instead rotted. Boo-Hiss. Check out the tree though.

Here it is a week and a half later.

Cloudy and rainy. And cold. Can't forget that.

But once in awhile, the sun pokes out!

Well, I have now gone way past my time I allowed, but before I go:
~ Beans is sleeping through the night
~ I have yet again come up with a daily schedule (that actually sounds reasonable)
~ Today is only Day One of it, so naturally, its going great.
~ I bought apples to sauce
~ I have a doll made. I don't love it, but its cute. The poor things still nekkid though, so pictures will have to wait.
Tootles!
Bonnie

Love all your pictures! I'm SO behind in commenting! I'm soaking up all your fall pictures (LOVE the header). A few select trees are *just* starting to turn color here. Trying to not be jealous of your bread pans :-)
