Muffly-Puffly-Poo's birthday, is somewhat fast approaching. Since she LOVES to have her "kids" (dolls) with her (really, she doesn't ask for her dolls, she wants to know where her kids are) at pretty much all times, and the much loved Dolly needs brain surgery, (once I brush up on my cosmetic surgery skills) I'm thinking a cloth baby doll is in order. We have some very cute plastic dolls, but she definitely goes for our rag dolls. Here's the dealio: What the heck pattern do I use? I have this one, and this one. I'm not sure the Kewpie one is quite what I'm looking for, though it has the advantage of being jointed, but that's not a necessity. The other one is cute and looks a lot like these, which I think have really sweet faces.
Now, after poking around on the web (FYI, I DO NOT recommend googling cloth baby dolls. At least not when children may happen by.) I've found these two free patterns: one two.
Please ignore the freakish face on doll one. It has the advantage of being able to make it look like this. Yeah, how cute is that?
Doll two. Oh doll two. I have long loved the simple sweetness of Waldorf /Waldorf style dolls. But. After coming across Waldorf nearly everywhere in my 'net searches, I decided to research it. Gah. Despite its very family oriented feeling, lots of homeschoolers, and penchant for all things natural and homemade, it is, in plain simple terms, a cult. The founder was a nut, and well, if you want more info, I'll give it to you, but right now I'm bunny trailing. So back to doll two. Does the fact that its merely a toy mean I shouldn't fret about the fact that its associated with Waldorf? Or because its associated with Waldorf, I should steer clear of it?
As of right now, its probably my first choice based solely on appearance. Please weigh in on the Waldorf factor too. I've been praying about it, and don't feel as if God's given me an answer, so I'm not sure what to do.
Second choice, at the moment would be doll number one. My only thought, for the patterns I have, and doll number one is maybe they will be to juvenile to quickly? I don't know. Do you have a cute pattern? That you want to share? With moi?
Help!

Why is she in your old bathing suit?(and an Indian headress)
because she's 2. duh.
I know nothing about the history of Waldorf, but will admit that I am in love with them. I think they are just the most precious things ever. Maybe knowing their history may change my mind-but probably not since, well....NO one knows any history or relates them to that said history. Like, for example, the fact that our months are actually named after Greek Gods but we don't refuse to use them just because of that bad history. Of course, it would be another matter entirely if using something with a horrible (and present) connotation intact and in doing so you would knowingly be associating yourself with it.
blah blah blah
To add another option to the mix~ I don't know if this woman has patterns but I DO know she makes the MOST unbelievably adorable dolls ever. All of which, I would duplicate in a HEART beat if I could. (and hope someday I CAN!) The expressions are priceless~ pure and wholesome and sweet. The hair she uses is amazing. The outfits are stunning.
Go to her blog here:

She has a tutorial for hair and you can steal-er, BORROW- ideas but I don't see a free pattern anywhere. BUT you are far more clever than I and could figure one out I am certain.
Here is her flickr stream~ you must check out the Lonely Goatherd marionettes. You MUST.
Anyway. I hope you find just the inspiration you are searching for. Sorry to not be much help!
oops.

I agree with Rebecca's assessment of the background surrounding the Waldorf dolls! :) It's kinda like the Cabbage Patch when I was little...??? There are so many things like that...know what I mean...Christmas trees, Easter eggs, etc etc.
Here is a gals site that makes Waldorf dolls that I met online...pricey but you might get some ideas! :) http://www.etsy.com/shop/folkydot
I laughed so loud at your "Because she is 2. Duh." comment. :)
Wish I could help! I know nothing of the dolls, though.
Hey there, just thinking of you and popping in to say 'hi'. Hope you have a smooth day! Josh comes in tomorrow for a week, looking forward to the visit! How are you guys? Did you turn the heat on yet??? Hehe!
I liked the third. I like the Waldorf dolls-even if the guy was loopy. ;)
How's potty training? ;)
Hey! :) My red shoes are from Target, just FYI! A little bit more than I usually spend on shoes at $19.99 (thrift shop shoe buyer normally) but I really needed some and hubby was kind enough to indulge me!
I appreciate other red shoe lovers, just so you know! :)
RE: Cow Envy
Don't do it. Since you have a source for fresh milk just get what you need there. This is just a lot of work.
