Christmas Past

There is a darn good reason I never posted pictures of the Christmas projects:
This little squirt right here. Yeah, wood glue can stand up to anything, except Baby Kong here, who likes to take things apart, sit on them and otherwise create havoc and destruction. Good thing he's so cute. But I finally got my act together and fixed things up with Gorilla Glue, which expands and foams and instantly hardens after you think you have everything all wiped up, but does the job (ahem, so far), so you get over it.
B. did 90% of the cutting out, I did all the cuss- assembling.

A barn for Biscuit. He loves this thing and would take it to bed if he could. As it is, he sleeps with it on the floor right next to his bed.

He got some farm animals to go with it. Do you know how HARD it is to find plastic farm animals, let alone decent ones? We had tons of them growing up, and they're scarcer than hens teeth now.
He's been bugging me to paint it red, but I just don't know.

Beans' blocks were not quite what I had in mind. I discovered that jigsaws have their limitations, so only the barn was cut out. I wood burned the animals on (yes, I know nothing is proportioned) sanded and wiped them down with a beeswax/mineral oil combo.

Honey's was a bit more challenging than I expected. Those dinky little hinges are a pain the- well, never mind, they are a pain.

And the shelf leans to the left. Please excuse the spots where the glue smeared and the stain didn't take.

Biscuit made her the canned goods. A dowel, hap-hazardly cut into lengths (by me), painted silver by him, and then little vintage labels were printed cut and glued on. They are really cute.

I painted some of those paper mache boxes you can find at craft stores for pots and pans. The other pots and pans were a gift to her from a friend last year, her mom found them as Christmas ornaments on clearance at a craft store. They are the perfect size.

She set this up this morning and asked me to take a picture. Check out the wild hair on the right!

Muffs kitchen set still needs a few things re-glued, and in some cases replaced. What I have is just not working, so maybe sometime before this coming Christmas, I'll get those photo's up.

Happy weekend!

The last two comments---yup. Me too.

You seriously give (make) the BEST presents EVER. WOW. You are so talented! I think that barn is incredible and, having a boy with a wooden barn myself, know that it was VERY well received! (As for good plastic animals---my Andrew likes the hard plastic ones you find at craft stores like Michaels, or A.C.Moore or at Tractor Supply Co. They are crazy expensive but very good quality and you can (at the craft stores anyway) get them for 40% off with a coupon. We are building our supply up S.L.O.W.L.Y and unfortunately, with mostly COWS since Andrew is obsessed. But anyhow. They are good. (Very lifelike! Well painted!)

And the A.G. stuff? Holy smokes! You are amazing. How CLEVER. It looks so lifelike! And it is so neat that biscuit helped to make the cans.

Golly. I am in awe.

So glad you finally REMEMBERED to show us! I would have been so sad not to see such awesomeness.
