New Clothes!

The plan had been to make the girls matching dresses using this pattern, but with the "drawstring" bodice modification, and then make the boy a coordinating shirt out of blue gingham. Muffin was sick, (and has pretty much been a bear for the last week and a half- incisors coming in)so, I was hoping to get the dresses made, and a necktie for Biscuit. Saturday rolled around, and I was happy to get the dresses hemmed, and scrapped the necktie.  I could have done it, excpet I have NOTHING pretty that fits, and  I really dislike going to church in "everyday" clothes. I have a black dress (and I REFUSE to wear all black when celebrating Jesus' Resurrection. It seems disrespectful.), and an aqua maternity skirt I made a few years ago. Can't wear them together, and my 1 white shirt is sporting a lovely pizza sauce stain across the front.
So, instead of making a necktie for Biscuit, Saturday evening found me at Kohl's and Target with my sister, looking for something to wear. I did get a pretty white (non-maternity) t-shirt, and a summer weight, 3/4 length sleeve black cardigan sweater. But I have no pictures of me.
Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, on to the pictures!
The Bear, I mean Muffin. That blue sash? Yeah, snagged it from the curtains in Honeys room. Really. I was planning to add blue gingham ribbon bows at the neckline, and on the sleeves, but they just didn't pop. I spied the curtain ties, and they were perfect. No cutting, pinning, or stitching needed. The fabric, is a thrifted bed sheet. $2. I had just been praying that I would be able to find pretty, reasonably priced fabric next time I went to Joanne's. This was even better!

Off she goes, with an ornery little laugh.

Happy looking little Squirts....
Honey is convinced that if it flies, its a bee or a wasp, and is out to get her. She is warily watching something, I'm not sure what.
Much better!
The back.
Dancing, because that's what dresses are for.

And Biscuit, who did end up with new clothes, via hand me downs from a family at church.
He was so excited to see this shirt with (gasp!) cars all over it. "I didn't even know they maked them!" (car shirts).
And everyone was happy. Except for Muffin.

Honey is such a perfect little model, always standing there so sweetly with her hands folded in front of her. SO cute.

The dresses are beautiful and I was going to mention the "no ironing" perk but you already knew it (I shoulda known!)

I love the regency style...so very Austin-ish.

Beautifully done! (Love how you used the sashes too!)

Bonnie,

All your hard work certainly paid off. These little dresses are adorable, and your little models (cranky or not) are so very cute!

Hope Muffin gets to feeling better soon.

I love those dresses.. reminds me of when my girls were that age and Grandma made them all dresses.. until her machine wouldn't stitch right any more. I think it was a 1930 Singer. It needs work.
One other thing I noticed is how green the grass is... sooooooo welcome!

I love the picture of the girls together. Reminds me of my Christmas cards a few years ago with both the boys crying. :) Thanks for checking in with me. I love seeing your comments.
